Resort Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking a Resort Manager who can embody these values and lead the property with warmth, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. The ideal candidate will also have strong preopening experience, capable of setting up systems, operations, and teams from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Maintain consistent 5-star service standards tailored to a boutique environment.
  • Build genuine relationships with guests, learning their preferences and anticipating needs.
  • Handle guest inquiries and feedback with grace, quick problem-solving, and a sense of hospitality.

Daily Operations Management

  • Oversee all daily operations including housekeeping, front office, F&B, activities, beach operations, spa (if applicable), and maintenance.
  • Ensure all villas and facilities are well-maintained, clean, safe, and functioning.
  • Coordinate scheduling, daily briefings, and communication among staff.
  • Maintain high operational efficiency despite remote-areas challenges (supply logistics, staffing, equipment, communication)

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Lead a small, diverse team with empathy and clear communication.
  • Train and mentor local staff, focusing on hospitality skills, confidence building, and cultural collaboration.
  • Foster a positive, respectful work culture that empowers staff and encourages teamwork.
  • Ensure all departments deliver service aligned with the resort’s boutique, personal, and culturally respectful vision.

Cultural & Community Engagement

  • Build respectful relationships with local communities, village leaders, and suppliers.
  • Ensure that cultural representation is authentic and not commercialized or exploitative.

 Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship

  • Uphold the resort’s sustainability values—energy, waste, water management, responsible sourcing.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
  • Support conservation efforts and nature-based activities provided by the resort.
  1. Financial & Administrative Management
  • Manage budget, operational costs, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor occupancy, revenue, and forecasting.
  • Oversee procurement, especially considering the logistical limitations of a remote location.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and licenses.

Experience & Activity Coordination

  • Manage and curate beach activities, nature adventures, cultural tours, and bespoke guest experiences.
  • Maintain high safety standards for all activities
  • Work closely with local guides or partners to deliver authentic, meaningful adventures.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in resort, hotel, or hospitality management, preferably in boutique, luxury, or remote properties
  • Passion for culture, community, and nature.
  • Ability to live on-site and embrace remote-island life.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa
  • Hands-on, proactive, and willing to support the team in all areas when needed.
