Purpose / Objective of the Role
As a Business Development Manager for Services, you are responsible for expanding market share within the installed base while identifying new business opportunities with both existing and new customers. Your goal is to generate revenue, improve profitability, and drive business growth. You will work closely with industry business units, sales, and marketing teams to enhance mid-to-long-term growth within the dedicated customer base and key accounts.
Additionally, you will deploy and roll out the necessary capabilities alongside service operations teams to deliver high-value service solutions in target markets. Your role involves ensuring competitiveness, defining value-adding service solutions, and proactively marketing these solutions through effective communication channels.
Essential Tasks:
- Achieve annual targets for services and execute service business strategies.
- Conduct regular customer visits to create and follow up on opportunities.
- Understand customer needs, pain points, and aspirations, translating them into service solutions that enhance customer outcomes and grow market share profitably.
- Analyze equipment installed base, market trends, growth opportunities, service requirements, competitors, and new service technologies to develop strategic sales activities.
- Establish direct and indirect relationships with key decision-makers and build a strong network within customer organizations.
- Represent service capabilities (spare & wear parts, maintenance services, agreements, service projects, consulting, and digital services) during customer engagements.
- Manage the services product portfolio and lead new product introductions to market success.
- Develop strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while ensuring seamless exchange of information between sales and service operations teams.
- Maintain open communication and provide frequent market updates to line management and relevant teams.
- Ensure accountability and transparency in the sales pipeline by consistently using CRM platforms to consolidate verified data on leads and opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years in business development, sales, and account management with a proven track record in the services sector.
- Strong learning agility, ownership mentality, and results-driven approach.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, particularly in B2B industries.
- Strong curiosity and active listening skills to understand customer business needs.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex information effectively to stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.
- High emotional intelligence, networking, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to translate solutions into measurable financial benefits for customers (e.g., Total Cost of Ownership, ROI).
- Expertise in strategic pricing, value selling, and understanding customer value chains.
- Skills in business idea formulation, business plan development, and marketing strategy execution.
- Experience in cross-business selling, including automation and digital solutions, with the ability to manage multi-segment market assignments.
- Proficiency in written and oral English due to the nature of the role.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin is a bonus due to the scope of the role.
