Head of Business Development

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Head of Business Development to lead the strategic growth of our solar and hybrid energy solutions for hospitality and event sectors. This role is central to expanding market presence, driving revenue, and forming strategic partnerships in the renewable energy domain. The successful candidate will leverage a strong understanding of clean energy systems to shape client-centric solutions, open new market channels, and contribute to the company’s sustainable growth objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Market Development:

  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities for solar-powered event solutions, including solar marquees, hybrid power systems, and eco-friendly event infrastructure.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, lead generation pipelines, and expansion plans for regional and international markets.
  • Build business cases for market entry, partnerships, and new product offerings, aligning with customer needs and sustainability goals.

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:

  • Drive client engagement from prospecting to deal closure, maintaining strong relationships with event organizers, hospitality groups, and sustainability-conscious corporates.
  • Lead high-level presentations, negotiations, and solution-selling efforts tailored to client-specific power needs and event profiles.
  • Gather customer feedback to inform future product and service innovations.

Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth:

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to meet business development targets, revenue goals, and market penetration KPIs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to price offerings competitively, balancing profitability and market appeal.
  • Analyze competitor positioning and industry trends to continuously refine sales approaches and offerings.

Partnerships & Strategic Alliances:

  • Forge and manage strategic alliances with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners to enhance delivery capability and solution quality.
  • Explore co-branding and co-development opportunities with key industry players and clean energy innovators.

Product Development & Innovation Input:

  • Provide market insights to guide the design and refinement of solar and hybrid energy systems for hospitality and event applications.
  • Collaborate with technical and engineering teams to ensure offerings are aligned with client expectations, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and propose innovative, value-added service models.

Operations & Project Oversight (Commercial-Focused):

  • Oversee high-level execution of major contracts and ensure seamless delivery of energy systems at event sites, supporting operational readiness and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor project margins, contract fulfillment, and performance metrics, addressing challenges proactively.
  • Ensure alignment between sales commitments and delivery capabilities.

Leadership & Team Building:

  • Lead and grow the business development team, setting clear targets and mentoring staff to enhance performance.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and marketing teams to deliver unified client experiences.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and industry forums as a thought leader in sustainable energy solutions.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a strong advantage.

Experience:

  • 7–10+ years in business development, sales, or commercial strategy roles within the renewable energy, events, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven success in scaling business units, winning key accounts, and managing strategic partnerships.
  • Exposure to technical sales in solar or hybrid systems is preferred.

Business & Commercial Acumen:

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a track record of delivering growth.
  • Deep understanding of commercial models, pricing structures, and customer lifecycle management in the B2B space.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Visionary leader with strong team-building and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and executive-level presentation skills.
